Meet Everlyn. An executive assistant with EssilorLuxottica for over a decade, she is also a long-term volunteer for the company’s free vision screening programs for underserved communities.

“One of my most memorable volunteering experiences with EssilorLuxottica was at the Singapore Zoo,” Everlyn shares. “We organized a fun health event for ex-offenders and their families - there was a treasure hunt for the children and vision screenings for the whole family. I felt so much joy seeing everyone having a good time while also taking care of their eye health.”

Most recently, Everlyn supported EssilorLuxottica’s three-year migrant workers vision care program, which aims to bring vision care to 300,000 migrant workers in Singapore. The program saw the launch of a new digital screening and dispensing solution which enabled migrant workers to take a preliminary online vision test on their smartphones before proceeding to a conveniently located vending machine for further vision screening. Once done, the vending machine will dispense free reading glasses customized to their prescription.

Everlyn coordinated logistics for the whole program, liaising with partners and making sure the vending machine is fully stocked with reading glasses. She also volunteered at the event to unveil the vending machine.

“I was very impressed when I saw the online test and the vending machine and I’m incredibly proud that EssilorLuxottica worked with local partners like the Migrant Workers’ Centre, the Institute of Systems Science at NUS, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, IELO Design and Boxgreen to create such a brilliant online platform and machine,” Everlyn says. “All the migrant workers at the event were curious and enthusiastic, forming a long queue to try out the vending machine. It’s heartening to have been part of something that will help so many people. My heart was full when I saw everyone’s happy smiling faces.”
